This role focuses on component-level diagnostics and repair of avionic electronic control panels using specialized test equipment, tools, and technical documentation, while maintaining strict traceability and documentation standards.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair single, dual, and multiple head control panels such as TCAS, audio control panels (ACP), and mechanical units at the component level.
  • Perform various functional tests on control panels to diagnose issues and identify defective components and circuitry.
  • Use standard electronic test equipment, including power supplies, multimeters for measuring voltage, current, and resistance, function generators, and oscilloscopes to support diagnostics and environmental testing.
  • Adjust and replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electronic components, including through-hole and surface-mount parts, using hand tools such as pliers, screwdrivers, soldering irons, and vacuum desoldering guns.
  • Consult technical manuals, test procedures, schematics, and wiring diagrams to analyze issues, determine repair methods, and ensure accurate troubleshooting.
  • Prepare written repair estimates for customers as needed, based on the complexity and scope of the required repair work.
  • Enter detailed descriptions of work performed on work orders and document the removal and installation of parts in accordance with FAA traceability standards.
  • Track, update, and close work orders using the in-house IFS ERP system to ensure accurate records and workflow management.
  • Support multiple projects and engineers simultaneously by organizing tasks, managing priorities, and meeting schedule requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels to clarify technical issues, coordinate work, and support a collaborative repair environment.
Essential Skills
  • Strong electronic theory knowledge and component-level troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, and specialized avionic test equipment used for environmental testing.
  • Ability to perform precise adjustments and replacements of through-hole and surface-mount electronic components using soldering irons and vacuum desoldering tools.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to support several projects and engineers while balancing priorities and schedules.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels.
  • A.S. degree in electronics or equivalent military or technical trade experience.
  • At least 5 years of electronics experience, with avionics experience preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working with avionic communication, navigation, and flight control panels such as ATC, ADF, TCAS, and audio panels.
  • Familiarity with FAA traceability standards and documentation practices for parts removal and installation.
  • Experience using an ERP system, preferably IFS, to track and close work orders.
  • Ability to perform detailed visual inspection of electronic boards and small components using measurement devices.
  • Comfort with repetitive hand and wrist motions associated with assembly, fabrication, and fine component work.
Why Work Here?

You will join a technically focused environment where precision, safety, and quality are highly valued. The role offers the opportunity to deepen your expertise in avionics electronics while working with advanced test equipment and complex systems. You will collaborate with skilled engineers and technicians, contribute to critical aerospace systems, and work in a setting that emphasizes organization, clear communication, and professional growth.

Work Environment

This role is primarily performed in an electronics repair and test environment, where most essential functions are completed while seated at a workstation. Light physical work is required, including exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Manual dexterity is essential for assembly and fabrication tasks, involving repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers while handling small electronic components. High visual acuity is required to inspect boards for small defects, work with small parts, use measurement devices, and assemble or fabricate parts at close visual distances.
